Regulations and Standards

The College develops and enforces Regulations, Standards of Practice, Policies and Guidelines.

Regulations are subordinate to the Chiropractic Act, 1991. They contain details that support the guiding principles of the legislation and may only exist pursuant to legislation. Regulations address topics such as registration, professional misconduct and quality assurance. Regulations require review, feedback and approval by provincial government before coming into effect.

Standards of Practice outline the base requirements chiropractors must meet to demonstrate clinical competence and deliver quality health care services. Contravening or failing to maintain a standard of practice is an act of professional misconduct and may lead to disciplinary action.
