Workshops

CCO will continue to host record keeping workshops approximately two times per year (in conjunction with CCO's Legislation & Ethics examination). Please visit the site regularly for the next available dates.

Members holding a general (i.e., active) certificate of registration are required to attend the workshop. Failure to attend a workshop will lead to a referral to the Executive Committee for further action.  If you have already attended a workshop, you are not required to attend again.

Workshops are free for candidates writing the Legislation & Ethics examination or CCO members within their first year of registration with CCO.

Workshops feature a STEP-BY-STEP approach that includes:

  • value of good record keeping
  • importance of sign-in sheets
  • schedule of care / financial plans
  • informed consent - when and how
  • patient visit from start to finish (consultation, history, examination, report of findings, treatment, SOAP notes, dismissal)
  • re-assessment, progress examinations and outcomes assessment
  • x-rays and x-ray reports
  • professional portfolio
  • privacy legislation

CCO will provide members with a light lunch.

Presenters: Dr. Dennis Mizel (Peer Assessor), Dr. Frazer Smith (Peer Assessor), Dr. Keith Thomson (Chair, Core Competency Project, Peer Assessor), Dr. J. Bruce Walton (Consultant, Quality Assurance Committee), Ms Jo-Ann Willson (Registrar and General Counsel), Mr. Joel Friedman (Director, Policy & Research)
